TGOM Grants Received-Supported Programs
In 2014, The Gifts of Music was successful in securing a grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation through its competitive grant process. This grant funding has enabled us to develop The Y Music Program, in conjunction with the Bangor YMCA. The Y Music Education Program is offered free of charge to students enrolled in the Bangor YMCA’s Y-Works after school program and will begin in September of 2015.

Music in Our Schools Month “Grant and Gifts” Package
We’ve started something! 2015 is our fifth year of operation as a nonprofit organization in Maine. Our supporters make it possible for us to strengthen music education in Maine schools. Together, we applaud those music teachers in Maine who always go above and beyond to share their love and knowledge of music with our young people. The benefits of their efforts are more confident and well educated kids who can express themselves as individuals while working as part of a team.
Resources for Maine music educators, especially in more rural districts, are limited at best. Teachers will often spend long hours “off the clock” and dip into their personal financial resources to make things happen for their students.
Congratulations to the winner of our first “Grant and Gifts” package in honor of Music In Our Schools month, Mike Arell
Here’s what Mike receives:
$350.00 cash grant from TGOM for school music department
1-Professionally refurbished instrument from TGOM for school band or string program (inventory limitations may apply)
$200.00 Gift Card from Mark’s Music in Brewer
$200.00 Full Photo Session with Bell Imaging and Design LLC. in Bangor
2 pair of best seat available concert tickets for 2015-2016 Bangor Symphony Orchestra season
TGOM Grants to School Music Educators
Maine school music educators may request funds from The Gifts of Music to support unfunded expenses or extraordinary opportunities for their school music programs. The grant opportunities, as funding permits, are announced by The Gifts of Music on our website and facebook pages, and in local media when possible.
The Gifts of Music Board, or volunteer review committee, reviews scholarship and grant applications to determine awards. The amount of grants awarded each year is contingent upon funds raised and designated specifically to each area of funding.
TGOM Grants to Non Profits
Non-profit organizations may request funds from The Gifts of Music in order to hire musicians for live music performances at social or fund-raising events related to their missions. Grant funding is contingent on available resources.
Your tax-deductible contributions to the Gifts of Music help make this part of our mission possible.
